IoT Workshop Overview (8 Hours) – Using IBM Technology

This 8-hour Internet of Things (IoT) workshop will introduce participants to the concepts of IoT and provide hands-on experience in building smart, connected devices using IBM’s cloud-based IoT platform and services.   1. Introduction to IoT and its Ecosystem

    • Overview of IoT, its applications, and how smart devices communicate over the internet.
    • Introduction to the key components of IoT: sensors, actuators, communication protocols, and cloud platforms.
    • Understanding the potential of IoT in various industries such as healthcare, smart cities, and automation.
  2. Setting up IoT Devices and Sensors

    • Hands-on session on integrating sensors with microcontrollers such as Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
    • Collecting real-time data from environmental sensors (temperature, humidity, etc.) and controlling actuators.
    • Introduction to communication protocols like MQTT, HTTP, and CoAP for device-to-device communication.

    • Using Node-RED, a flow-based development tool, to create real-time IoT data pipelines and automate processes.

    • Developing a simple IoT application that connects sensors to the IBM Watson cloud and performs data analysis.
    • Deploying and managing IoT solutions in real-world scenarios such as smart homes or industrial automation.
    • Best practices for securing IoT devices and ensuring data privacy.
